WHO WE ARE

ABOUT US

At UCE Group we invest in the development and operation of commercial real estate and renewable energy generation, as well as storage facilities across the United States and internationally. Our mission is to capitalize on our combined real estate and energy experience to deliver optimum value to medium-to- large-scale real estate developers by installing money-saving renewable energy systems.

Over the last 23 years, we have driven complex technology-driven projects from their initial idea generation and capital raising stages, to the construction and management of their finished assets. These projects have ranged in budget from $2-20 million to approximately $1 billion.

Beyond that, we have also developed commercial and residential real estate to include Class A office buildings, warehouses, multifamily residences, townhouses, resorts, and so on.

History

Milestones

1993

General Construction Corporation, Inc., is founded in St. Petersburg. The company specializes in carrying out large scale technology-driven projects in the areas of commercial, industrial and infrastructure construction. Over the next two decades, the organization grows into a group of companies that operate in construction, real estate development, property management and research and development areas. Overall, the group has completed successfully over 450 projects, among which were the construction of the Second Stage of the Mariinsky Theater, the construction of the South phase of the Northern High-Speed Diameter highway, the construction of the largest in Europe correctional facilities, located in St. Petersburg, Russia, and hundreds of bridge, roadway and other infrastructure construction projects.

1996

The group of companies establishes an internal Research and Development department and the first project of this division is focused on a new tram infrastructure technology. This innovative technology is custom tailored for the areas with combined tram and automotive traffic and is implemented for the first time in St. Petersburg and the country. The technology later becomes an infrastructure construction best practice in the city. In the coming years, the Research and Development department provided support to most challenging technology-driven projects of the organization, such as the engineering of autonomous solar energy generation and energy storage systems.

1997

The group of companies starts up a specialized department that drives energy construction projects. Some of the earliest projects of the Energy Division were centered on transportation energy infrastructure, such as tram and trolleybus power line reconstruction, the construction of transformer substations etc. Over time, the activities of the Energy Department expanded to end-to-end electrical infrastructure projects ranging from power lines to power networks of manufacturing companies.

2000

The company enters real estate development market by completing its first residential project. This centrally located seven story building has the total square footage of 55 000 s.f. This project lays the foundation for all forthcoming commercial, industrial and residential projects and, as a result, the company developed in excess of 1 000 000 s.f. of real estate.

2003

The organization gain international exposure by completing a factory reconstruction project for a German construction materials manufacturer. This KNAUF factory overhaul project is especially challenging since the production facilities were not shut down during the assignment. The company’s expert planning and construction project management activities allow continuing operations of the factory while it is reconstructed with minimum interruptions to the manufacturing process.

Moreover, this valuable experience helps drive other international projects, such as the construction of the South-West Waste Water Treatment Plant with a Scandinavian consortium SWTP in 2003-2005, the erection of a roadway bridge with the participation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in 2013-2015, and the construction of the Second Stage of the Mariinsky Theater in partnership with Diamond Schmitt Architects.

2007

The company invests in and develops its first large-scale commercial warehouse project. Throughout this project, the firm not only plays a developer role, but also serves as general manager of the construction project. In addition, the Energy Division engineered, procured and constructed an intricate smart energy network for this building.

Energy work was mission critical as the warehouse included extensive cold storage facilities that fall under a strict set of regulations. The end result is the 112 000 sq. ft. multi-tenant logics complex that included cold storage facilities. Later on, the Energy Division engineers a solar power station project at this location.

2008

The firm builds upon its prior development success stories by investing in and developing a 132 000 s.f. class A office building. The ten story Atrio building is situated in the historical city center and hosts many prominent companies that work in the telecom, consulting, design and other sectors.

2009

The organization starts up a dedicated real estate Operations & Maintenance unit. At present, this company manages over 1,250,000 s.f. of office, commercial and industrial space, and technopark properties.

2013

The firm builds upon its prior energy experience by engineering, procuring and constructing the end-to-end energy system of the world-class Mariinsky theater. While the theater construction project is completed in concert with Diamond Schmitt Architects, the organization builds a smart grid and an energy storage system. This 1MW+ system is one of the largest and most advanced energy storage facilities in the region.

2014

The Energy and Research and Development Divisions that drive all activities in traditional and renewable energy areas are merged into UCE Group.

2015-
2017

The group drives energy projects, such as the construction of the energy system of the Kolpino correctional facilities, completes the energy network of the Vyborg district roadway, modernizes the energy system of the Atrio office building. Moreover, the organization designs its first renewable energy projects. The group engineers and designs photovoltaic rooftop power plants for a logistics warehouse and an office building, and an autonomous roadway lighting system driven by photovoltaic panels and wind power generators.

The extensive business, technical and energy core competencies, accumulated over the last 23 years of project activities, such as:

  • large-scale technology-driven construction project management
  • energy construction, research and development, and project management
  • commercial, industrial and residential real estate development

result in the foundation of UCE Group, LLC in Florida, USA with a back office in St. Petersburg, Russia.
